Greenhouse Irrigation
Greenhouse irrigation can be simple or complicated depending on your needs, and irrigation requirements are central to our greenhouse designs. No plant can live indefinitely without water, and greenhouse irrigation should not be overlooked when you plan your perfect greenhouse. As well as providing water to plant root systems, spray systems also play a role in maintaining greenhouse humidity. Although manual watering is rewarding enough if you have the time, an automatic greenhouse irrigation system can make life easier and will ensure that your plants remain cared-for in your absence.
One step up from manual watering is a simple siphon greenhouse irrigation system. This uses a reservoir supplied by a precision mains drip-feed, and the water is simply delivered via a pipe fitted with nozzles for each plant pot. The nozzles are adjustable to ensure that this greenhouse irrigation system delivers the desired amount of water to each plant.
Moving up a level or two of sophistication is the capillary bench method of greenhouse irrigation. This greenhouse irrigation system involves water seeping up from a perforated pipe buried in a bed of sand on the greenhouse bench. A reasonably skilled DIY enthusiast should be able to construct this type of greenhouse irrigation system without too many problems.
Understandably, electronic greenhouse irrigation systems offer the greatest potential for watering sophistication. They can be programmed to ensure precise watering in accordance to the environmental conditions, and can even deliver plant feed if required. Alarms can be built in to warn of conditions such as undesirable pH changes and you can even be warned of system failure, ensuring that your prized plants are always best catered for.
